the dark tower
since i've been home, i've read a couple books. but mostly it's been ones i've already read and know i'll enjoy reading again. i've read a bunch of dragonlance books by richard a. knaak, my favorite author for that setting. i've mostly exhausted that list, so i picked up "Hearts in Atlantis," by stephen king, which i bought a while ago when it was a bargain book hardcover for 5 or 6 dollars. it's not advertised as such, but it has a _lot_ to do with the dark tower, more than i thought. especially with those stupid previews showing anthony hopkins and the little boy. but i now know a lot more about breakers. and it's fucking creepy, all the secret signs that the low men use to communicate with each other. in addition, i now understand that stupid segment with anthony hopkins and the boy touching opposite sides of a pane of glass. the book, and my desire to shower vs my desire to wake up my mom and get yelled at, resulted me in reading it til 5am or so. and look! 6:50 am and i still haven't gone to sleep.
what's my point? if you like the dark tower, this one's kinda cool. it's not that long though, as the book is actually a collection of 4 related stories. the first one's all you really need though, so you could go to a barnes and noble or a borders and read it in a comfy chair.
