i hate underworld, and by extension, the covenant

i remember hearing or reading at some point that this new movie, the covenant, was produced by the same folks responsible for that travesty underworld. it did strike me as omnious.

craig, steiner, and i were sitting downstairs and watching tv and a trailer for the covenant came on. it opened with - guess what - some douchebag landing after what i assume to be a jump from a large height.

steiner's face lights up in a huge grin and he says, "did you see that? did you _see_ that!? you know who produced this, right?"

not five seconds after he says this, in the SAME FUCKING TRAILER, the trailer cuts to _another_ clip of the same fucking guy exercising the same exact landing "superpower."

what the fuck is wrong with the producers?? who is the fucking asshat who forces these falling/landing scenes into these fucking movies? it is not cool. it's an ok, auxiliary sort of power. if a hero has super strength or an adamantium skeleton, a side effect of his resilience is that he can fall from pretty high up and not care. it is not a power in and of itself. it should not define any kind of hero. what the fuck!?!

i fucking hate the people responsible for these movies. who in fuck's name daydreams about being able to jump off high places without ill effect? who?

why i hardly post anymore

before, i would write little things - movies i'd seen and liked, funny thoughts i had. now, i mostly think about bigger things, which, if i wanted to write about, would take a real sitdown and some decent amount of time to ensure i wrote about them well. so i just put it off because, as lazy i am, when i do something i like to make sure it's done correctly. the only time i halfass things is when a deadline forces me to.

all that diary type of blog - i went to the supermarket, and i talked to this person, and i cleaned my room for a bit. why do people even bother?

good game today. reyes with a grand slam. 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth, 5 of which were unearned. check out the 4th inning stats.

raj and hayle met us there. we had some good talking about relationships and such. it's fun to talk with raj about that sort of thing. i might get into it later, but i'm pretty tired.

i really strongly identify with banky in chasing amy, and randal in clerks (moreso in the second one).

at least i've kept my options open

i've actually been fairly busy, i think. whether or not i've been busy with things that anyone else would care about is a different matter.

i watched two movies for the first time today.

the descent fucking owns. it is totally sweet and awesome. so gory and sick. the best horror movie i've seen in a long time. i missed the first half hour, so i got there right as the women became trapped and missed all the character development and setup and so on. didn't really need it, although melissa filled in some of the connections for me after it was over. i'll have to catch those on dvd.

i remember going to see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind with amanda and - wow, who was it? - we were about 15 minutes late. missing those 15 minutes did make a difference in that case.

date movie had its moments. funny, and a little cute. the having a thing for alysan (that can't be right) hannigan made it ok. i remember being only partially entertained throughout the movie "red eye" but being content to just drink in rachel what'sherface's beauty. same thing here.

was her hair natural through the whole thing? it is amazing. especially at the last wedding scene, with the flowers. i never had a thing for redheads, not like a lot of guys do, but goddamn that hair was so great. it could even give straight shiny totally black asian hair a run for its money.
